Fresh talent hits the track for Queensland Raceway

A host of new drivers will join an impressive 23-car grid as the TFH Hire TA2 Muscle Car Series presented by Maritimo Luxury Yachts heads to Queensland Raceway for Round 4, taking place June 27-29.

Championship leader Jarrod Hughes returns to the driver’s seat this round, following Tim Brook’s dominant clean sweep in his car at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Toyota 86 racer Alice Buckley is set to make her TA2 debut this weekend at her home track, proudly backed by GM Australia and New Zealand. While she admits to feeling a bit nervous with Chevrolet on the side of the car and limited seat time in the TA2, this weekend marks an exciting new chapter in her racing journey.

GRM Trans Am driver Lachlan Evennett is set to tackle a massive weekend, making his TA2 debut joining Ashley Jarvis Racing while also competing in the Formula Ford Stars and Renegades Series in effort to maximise his race experience.

Rookie Brock Paine returns after an impressive debut at Sydney Motorsport Park, heading into his home round at Queensland Raceway with plenty of confidence and looking to expand his on Sydney results.

Tyler Cheney, son of Graham Cheney, is set to make his return to TA2 this weekend as he takes the wheel of the #50 IES Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro on behalf of Paul Hadley. Tyler was last seen in a TA2 car at the 2024 enduro event at The Bend Motorsport Park where he co-drove alongside current championship leader Jarrod Hughes. With a solid performance during that outing, all eyes will be on Tyler to see how he performs for his first solo weekend.

After last competing at Queensland Raceway in 2023, Hayden Hume is set to make his eagerly anticipated return this weekend at his home round, now behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang replacing his former Dodge Challenger.

Track action begins Friday with three practice sessions scheduled for 8:05am, 11:05am and 2:00pm. Saturday features qualifying at 9:30am, followed by Race one at 1:10pm and Race two at 4:25pm. On Sunday, a second qualifying session will take place at 10:00am, with Race one and Race two set for 1:05pm and 4:15pm.

All the action of Round 3 can be watched live and free to air on SBS on Demand simulcast on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.

QUOTES

Alice Buckley #150 Chevrolet Racing, Chev Camaro
“I’m a little bit nervous to be honest, having Chevrolet on the side of the car and it being my first round adds to the pressure. I’ve only been in the car once, and for the past few years I’ve been driving cars with ABS, so the TA2 is a very different beast compared to what I’m used to. We’re taking the weekend step by step, with no expectations just looking to have a bit of fun. This is something I want to pursue long term, so this weekend really feels like a stepping stone.”

Hayden Hume #45 Total Parts Pro/Tranto Trucks, Ford Mustang
“After being out of the seat for two years, I’m excited to make my return to the category. Beyond the racing itself, I’m especially looking forward to rejoining the incredible community of TA2. I’m currently competing in the Toyota GR Cup after graduating from the TGRA Scholarship Series where I finished second in 2024. Queensland Raceway is my home track, I've logged countless laps there and know it well. I’m ready for the challenge of going up against some high calibre talent and plan to do my talking on the track.”
