Title Fight Intensifies as TA2 Muscle Car Series Returns to Queensland Raceway

The TA2 Muscle Car Series heads back to Queensland Raceway this weekend, August 14-16, for round four of the season, with a strong 20-car field returning to the Ipswich circuit for the second time this year.

A competitive and consistent showing from Waltec Motorsport driver Tyler Cheney at Sydney Motorsport Park has propelled him to the top of the championship standings, with just 12 points now separating him from Alice Buckley.

Queensland Raceway is Buckley's home circuit and she's enjoyed plenty of success there, winning back-to-back TA2 Tag Team enduros, and will no doubt be looking for a positive weekend to reclaim the championship lead on home turf.

Round three winner Nash Morris returns for his second round of the year, this time on home soil after enjoying a thrilling battle at Sydney Motorsport Park with Ben Gomersall who is also preparing for his Supercars main game debut next weekend with Tickford Racing. At Sydney Motorsport Park, the two provided some of the closest and most exciting racing seen this year so with addition of Cheney, Buckley, Hume, Farr and Smith, the action is expected to be frenetic. 

The Circo Master Class will be hotly contested this weekend, with #7 Sinopec Chev Camaro driver Robbie Farr leading the standings 41 points clear of Clinton Rayner in the #76 Perth Forklifts Chev Camaro who is riding a wave of confidence after a podium finish at the Trans Am Cup Series round at Perth, with Matt Stone Racing's Chris Smerdon rounding out the top three. 

Plenty of local drivers return to the series this weekend, with familiar faces Connor Roberts, Paul Hadley and Warren Wadley all back on the grid, plus Coleby Cowham, who will pilot the first Dodge Challenger seen in TA2 competition this year.

The weekend kicks off with a practice session on Saturday morning, followed by qualifying at 11:30am and Races 1 and 2. Sunday will open with a warm-up before the action continues with qualifying and two more races.
