Trans Am Star Nathan Herne Teams Up with Tom Davies for TA2 Enduro

Two-time Trans Am champion Nathan Herne will join forces with Tom Davies for the upcoming TA2 Tag Team Enduro, taking place at Queensland Raceway from August 15 to 17.

Herne will serve as both driver and team manager at the event as Davies competes in the TA2 Series in Herne’s family team driving a Camaro as opposed to the Mustang which he drives with GRM in the Trans Am Series.

Currently sitting second in the Trico Trans Am Series Herne said that he and Tom share a very similar driving style, a factor he believes puts them in a strong position to contend for the win.

“It’s been an interesting experience this year being on the ‘other side of the fence’, stepping back from driving and focusing on engineering and mechanical support for Tom in the TA2 Series. The season’s had its up's and down's, but we had a really strong car at the last round at Queensland Raceway,” Herne said.

“Based on the data and footage and with Tom and my very similar driving styles, I think we have a real shot for the win at the Enduro. It’s going to be a big event with tough competition, but Tom is a hard charger, and with my experience in these cars, I think that combination could really pay off for us.”

Davies endured a challenging start to the season with a car fire at Round 1 in Winton, but has bounced back impressively, securing his first two TA2 podium finishes at the most recent round at Queensland Raceway.

Davies currently sits seventh in the TA2 championship and said he’s looking forward to partnering with a driver of Herne’s experience, giving him extra confidence going into the Enduro.

“Obviously, Nathan is a guru when it comes to these cars both behind the wheel and in the garage and from what I’ve seen this year as he’s running my car, I’m not sure I could be partnered with a better driver,” he said.

“We came out of Round 4 at Queensland Raceway feeling confident with the changes we’ve made to the car. I’ve finally got a solid feel for the new tyres, so I’m confident that together we can achieve a strong result.”

Round five of the TFH Hire TA2 Muscle Car Series presented by Maritimo Luxury Yachts is the headline act for the Hi-Tec Super Series and kicks off August 15-17 at Queensland Raceway. Saturday and Sunday’s action can be watched live and free to air on SBS Free to Air, SBS On Demand and simulcast to Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.
